Domestic shipments have more than doubled, with 445 MW in the first quarter of 2012 and more than 1 GW in the third quarter. The Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) stated that about 1399 MW of this total was from Japanese producers, while the remaining 676 MW came from imports.
The volume of exports has been gradually reduced. Exports of 168 MW in the first quarter of 2012 and 111 MW in the third quarter. According to JPEA, about 20MW is exported to North America and about 84MW is exported to Europe.
