For surfaces prone to rust, such as the valve stem and sealing surface, a layer of rust inhibitor or rust-proof paper should be applied. The inlet and outlet ports should be covered with plastic caps or wax paper to prevent dirt from entering and causing damage.
All plastic ball valves in the warehouse must comply with accounting requirements. They should be categorized, neatly arranged, clearly labeled, and easily identifiable. Small valves should be placed on shelves in order of model, specification, and size, ensuring proper classification. Large valves should be stored on the warehouse floor, sorted by size and model. Plastic valves must be kept upright, with the flange sealing surface not touching the ground or stacked in piles. Extra-large valves or those that cannot be stored immediately should be placed outdoors in a dry and well-ventilated area. Their sealing surfaces should be coated with anti-rust oil, and the passages should be sealed with caps. If there are no fillers in the filling port, it should be sealed with butter, and the valve should be covered with a rainproof tarp. A temporary shelter may be constructed for added protection.
For plastic ball valves that will not be used for an extended period, if the filling port contains asbestos packing, it should be removed to avoid electrochemical corrosion and potential damage to the valve stem. For valves without packing, the manufacturer usually provides the necessary materials, and inspectors must ensure these are properly stored. It is important to monitor the aging period of the valves and implement a first-in, first-out system to ensure optimal usage.
During handling, if any parts such as handwheels, handles, or scales become damaged, they should be promptly replaced by the manufacturer to avoid loss or malfunction. Rust inhibitors and lubricants that have exceeded their shelf life should be replaced or replenished according to schedule to maintain the integrity and performance of the valves.
