How to maintain the plastic ball valve in the storage

After the plastic ball valve is delivered to the designated warehouse, the person in charge of custody must immediately proceed with the warehousing procedures. This ensures that the valves are properly documented and can be efficiently inspected and maintained when needed. The custodial staff should promptly check the model, appearance, and weight of each valve. In addition, they should conduct strength tests and leak tests together with the testing personnel to ensure compliance with quality standards. Valves that meet the required specifications can then be approved for storage. For those that do not meet the standards, they should still be stored appropriately and reported to the relevant departments for further action or re-evaluation. Before storing the plastic ball valves, it is essential to clean them thoroughly to maintain their appearance and functionality. For areas prone to rust, such as the valve stem and sealing surfaces, a layer of rust inhibitor should be applied, or rust-proof paper should be placed to protect them. The inlet and outlet ports should be covered with plastic caps or wax paper to prevent dust and debris from entering. All plastic ball valves stored in the warehouse must meet accounting requirements. They should be categorized and stored in an organized manner, with clear labels for easy identification. Small valves should be arranged on shelves in order of model, specification, and size, ensuring proper classification. Large valves, on the other hand, should be placed directly on the warehouse floor, sorted by size and model. Each plastic valve must be stored vertically, and the flange sealing surface must not touch the ground. Stacking them in piles is not recommended. For extra-large valves or those that cannot be stored temporarily, it is advisable to place them outdoors in a dry and well-ventilated area. The sealing surfaces should be coated with anti-rust oil, and the openings should be sealed with caps. Some valves may have no packing in the filling port to prevent water ingress, so the filler port should be sealed with grease. The entire valve should be covered with a waterproof tarp or similar material. If possible, a temporary shelter should be built to provide additional protection. If certain plastic ball valves will not be used for an extended period, any asbestos packing in the filling port should be removed to avoid electrochemical corrosion that could damage the valve stem. For valves without packing, the manufacturer typically provides the necessary packing, and inspectors must ensure it is properly maintained. It is also important to track the aging period of the valves, following the "first-in, first-out" principle to prevent long-term degradation. During handling, if parts such as the handwheel, handle, or scale are damaged, they should be promptly ordered from the manufacturer and replaced. Missing components can affect the functionality and safety of the valve. Lastly, rust inhibitors and softeners that have exceeded their shelf life should be replaced or replenished regularly to ensure continued protection of the valves. Regular maintenance and monitoring are key to preserving the integrity and performance of the stored plastic ball valves.
