Select switch to see: material contact structure

Look at the shell material first

The main switch brands in the market generally use PC materials, and PC materials are also called bulletproof plastics. The properties of impact resistance, high temperature resistance, and discoloration are very important for controlling the electrical switches. The better switch front panel and back chassis are made of PC material, and the general switch will replace PC material with black nylon material on the base, so the cost can be reduced a lot.

The same PC material, many switch manufacturers are using domestic production (even if the standard used is what the United States GE is also a domestic cooperative factory, but only by GE sell it), and currently there is no domestic company has the ability to produce PC materials, the so-called domestic production are generally reprocessed with recycled materials, so the impurities are relatively high, it will be very brittle, and the heat resistance is also obviously poor. Poor Switching to Reduce Costs The front panel may not be PC-ready, with mixes or ABS instead. These materials not only have poor impact resistance and heat resistance, but also tend to be discolored and have a rough surface when they are touched.

Second look at the contacts

It is the contact point of the conductive part during the switching process. The first one depends on the size (the bigger the better), the second depends on the material.

There are currently three main types of contacts, silver-nickel alloys, silver-cadmium alloys, and pure silver.

Silver-nickel alloy is the ideal contact material at present, and its electrical conductivity and hardness are relatively good and it is not easy to oxidize and rust.

Silver-cadmium alloy contacts are also better in other aspects, but cadmium is a heavy metal that is harmful to the human body. On the other hand, the fusion of silver and cadmium is also not ideal. It will form small particles of cadmium metal on the surface of the contact. It may pull out the arc.

In fact, pure silver is not suitable for the contacts, and the conductive properties are indeed good, but the pure silver texture is relatively soft and easily oxidized (such as silver jewelry will turn black after a long time). The texture is soft, and the contacts on the switch are deformed; if the oxidation is rusted, the conductive properties will be much poorer, and the rust spots will also easily generate heat. It is easy to burn the contacts.

Third look at the structure

Now it is mainly a large panel type. Its appearance and feel are better than those of the previous thumb type. The biggest problem with the thumb type is that it is easy to get stuck because the torque is relatively short, the switching action is relatively small, and the spring is a bit too soft or a little too soft, which can cause the switch to get stuck. The first two days saw Gray (don't tell me it's Mi, if it's Mi, I'm the Martian) and came up with a so-called reset switch, try to feel astringent, open it up and look inside is a small roller, press Turn 1/4 turn, to reduce the inevitable friction, coated with oil. Imagine that after half a year, the lubricating oil was dry. How can I use this switch?

In addition, the power of home appliances is getting larger and larger, and the power load requirements on the switches are also relatively high, especially in the instant when the appliances are powered on (many poor quality switches are burned by instantaneous high current when they are powered on). A good switch should be able to pass more than 16A of current, while normal can only pass 10A at most.
