The Swiss eVTOL project has made substantial progress: the first phase of testing has been completed

According to foreign media reports, although many companies are now developing so-called "air taxis", many of them currently have nothing but planned renderings. This is not the case with Dufour Aerospace from Switzerland. It is reported that this company has recently completed the first phase of testing of a large demonstration machine.

Like other concept air taxis, Dufour's demonstration aircraft is also an eVTOL. eVTOL refers to a battery-powered aircraft that can not only take off and land like a helicopter, but also convert to a faster and more efficient fixed-wing flight mode during cruise. The company stated that their method inspired by the Canadair CL-84 experimental aircraft is a better way to fly.

In the first phase of the test that was just completed, the team conducted 550 separate flights of the demonstrator. In this process, the aircraft demonstrated high stability and control capabilities under all conditions-including the transition and re-transition from hover to cruise.

Jasmine Kent, chief technology officer of Dufour, said that this all-electric aircraft was developed in cooperation with the Zurich ETH Research Institute and has a wingspan of 4.5 meters. According to reports, the aerodynamic performance of this aircraft has reached the performance range of the passenger aircraft aEro 3 that the company plans to launch.
