Pear tree fruit fertilizer application is at the time

At present, most farmers have completed the harvest of their pears, and the orchards are being cleared. To ensure the production of high-quality pear trees in the coming year, pear growers across different regions should immediately begin applying the base fertilizer after the orchard is cleared. This fertilizer, known as the fruit fertilizer or reducing fertilizer, plays a crucial role in determining the yield and quality of pears in the next season. The timing and amount of base fertilizer application are directly linked to the success of the upcoming harvest. First, base fertilizer serves as the primary nutrient source for pear trees, making up the largest portion of the total annual fertilizer needs. From September to November, the root system of pear trees enters its second growth peak, making it an ideal time to apply fertilizer. At this stage, nutrients can be quickly broken down and absorbed by new roots, enhancing the tree's ability to store essential elements. Additionally, prolonged fertilizer absorption helps increase cell sap concentration, improving the tree’s resistance to cold weather. The effectiveness of base fertilizer is also maximized during the critical nutrient period in April and May, when the utilization rate is highest. Early nutrient uptake supports better flower bud development, leading to improved fruit set and higher sugar content. Moreover, applying base fertilizer in autumn rather than spring prevents excessive vegetative growth that could lead to frost damage. To apply base fertilizer effectively, several technical considerations must be followed. First, the best time for fertilization is during autumn, ideally between September and November when the soil temperature is still favorable. Second, selecting high-quality organic fertilizer is essential. It not only improves soil structure and fertility but also reduces the risk of inorganic fertilizer fixation in the soil. A typical application includes around 50 kg of compost or manure per tree, along with 1 kg of phosphate and 1 kg of nitrogen fertilizer, or 5–15 kg of bio-organic compound fertilizer. Base fertilizer should make up 60–70% of the annual total. Third, the method of application should be adjusted based on the age of the tree and local practices. Common techniques include ring-shaped fertilization for newly bearing trees, ditch fertilization aligned with root systems, strip trenching between rows, and deep hole digging. These methods can be alternated annually to prevent nutrient depletion. Deep application (30–50 cm) during autumn and winter is recommended to minimize waste. In dry conditions, timely irrigation ensures that water and nutrients work together for optimal results. By following these guidelines, farmers can significantly improve the health and productivity of their pear trees, setting the stage for a successful growing season ahead.
