At the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, four companies announced the launch of SABIC-certified recycled polymers. The polymer program will be produced by SABIC and will be launched on the market in 2019. It is expected that Unilever, Vinventions and Walki Group will use the polymer in packaging solutions for a variety of consumer products.

Certified recycled polymers will be produced using a raw material called TACOIL. This material is a patented product of PLASTICENERGY in the UK and is produced by recycling low quality mixed plastic waste. In support, SABIC and PLASTICENERGY recently announced the announcement of the establishment of the first commercial plant in the Netherlands to produce and process raw materials for the commercial production of raw materials.

SABIC will produce the finished recycled polymer at its production site in the Netherlands and supply it to the three main customers of Unilever, Vinventions and Walki Group for the pioneering, high quality of food, beverage, personal and home care products. , high-security consumer goods packaging.

SABIC said that the introduction of Certified Recycled Polymers in 2019 will serve as a disruptive innovation, creating a new value chain that will drive upstream suppliers SABIC and major downstream customers to recycle and reuse mixed plastic waste for packaging applications.

Unilever, Vinventions and Walki recognize the importance of sustainable development and its role in the circular economy. They highlighted the criticality of precision, quality and safety in consumer packaging and the need for SABIC-certified recycled polymers as a substitute for traditional production materials.

SABIC Certified Polymers will be used in a wide range of strategic customer packaging solutions, including Unilever's food, personal and home care product packaging, Vinventions wine packaging bottles and Walki's more consumer-protective packaging materials. What these companies have in common is the need to provide the highest quality packaging solutions to protect consumers' safety and meet the environmental and sustainability goals required by today's society.

SASIC Vice President and CEO Yousef Al-Benyan said: “Since its inception, sustainability and reuse have been part of SABIC's mission. Current sustainability is more core than ever and can drive our advanced Technology expertise and R&D spirit. SABIC is proud to introduce our certified recycled polymers, which further demonstrates our leadership in advancing the circular economy."
