The financial crisis has had a major impact on the European machine tool industry. In 2009, new machine tool orders fell by 60% year-on-year, and production fell by 37% year-on-year. According to the latest statistics from the European Machine Tool Industry Cooperation Council (CECIMO), in the first quarter of 2010, CECIMO The export of machine tools has not yet seen a significant improvement. The total value of machine tools exported by member states was 2.285 billion euros, a decrease of 27% year-on-year. Among them, machine tools worth 1.452 billion euros, that is, machine tools accounting for 64% of total exports, were exported to non-CECIMO. In countries and regions, this proportion has increased significantly from 56% in the same period in 2009.

According to the export value, China and Hong Kong remain the most important export markets of CECIMO, while the US market has shrunk and its second position has been replaced by Russia. In the first quarter of 2010, CECIMO member countries exported machine tools worth 446.7 million euros to mainland China and Hong Kong. Although they fell 12% from the same period in 2009, they still ranked first in the export market with a share of 30.8%. In second place, Russia with an export value of 133.9 million euros, exports fell by 8% year-on-year, with a market share of 9.2%. The third is the United States, with exports of 131 million euros, a year-on-year decline of 32%. The market share was 9.0%. The fourth India, with an export value of 93.7 million euros, fell 1% year-on-year, with a market share of 6.5%. The fifth Korean export volume was 70.8 million euros, down 13% year-on-year. Among the market, only Brazil, which ranks seventh, increased its exports by 34% to 62.8 million euros, with a market share of 4.3%.

Since the fourth quarter of 2009, orders from the European machine tool industry have seen a certain increase. In the first quarter of 2010, European machine tool orders increased by 32% compared with the same period in 2009. However, due to factors such as the order model and the long lead time of the machine tool, it is expected that the production and export of European machine tools will not increase significantly until 2011.
