Unlike traditional artificial stones, which often rely more on resins, quartz stone closely mimics the properties of natural stone due to its high quartz content. The processing of quartz stone differs significantly from that of ordinary artificial stone due to its unique physical properties. However, many manufacturers and fabricators still apply methods designed for regular artificial stone, leading to inefficiencies or even damage during the cutting and shaping process. In general, the processing of quartz stone follows similar principles to those used for natural stone. Operators with experience in working with natural stone are best suited for this task. Those who have only worked with standard artificial stone should undergo proper training before handling quartz stone. Essential tools include a multi-functional marble cutter, grinding machines with diamond or resin discs, a cantilever water grinder, hand drills with diamond sleeves, and specialized blades for curved cuts. Materials such as marble glue, quartz-specific adhesives, and curing agents are also crucial for proper bonding and finishing. The processing steps involve precise field measurements, confirming color and edge types, cutting with a marble machine, and using specialized equipment to shape edges. After cleaning and applying adhesive, the pieces are clamped and allowed to cure. Polishing is done in stages, starting with coarse grits (50#, 150#, 300#) and moving to finer ones (500#, 1000#, 2000#, 3000#). Diamond polishing pads must be hard, and their size depends on the application. Cuts should be made with high-hardness diamond blades under water cooling, rotating at 6000 RPM to avoid cracking. When creating sink holes, the center position must be carefully measured, ensuring a minimum distance of 70mm from the rear edge. The corners are first drilled with high-hardness diamond bits, then cut in two stages to prevent cracking. A backing plate supports the bottom during cutting, and after shaping, the corners are rounded with a radius of at least R10mm. Additional reinforcement is added to the corners and edges for extra strength. For bonding, standard marble glue can be used, but special quartz adhesives prepared by the factory are recommended for better performance. These glues require clean, dry surfaces free of oil or wax. The connection joints should be 45-degree angles, roughened for better adhesion. Epoxy-based dry-hanging glue is also available and should be used according to instructions.
