Bathroom waterproofing process

1. Apply the first coat of waterproofing material. Before starting, make sure the construction area is clean and completely dry. The coating should be evenly applied without any missed spots. It must adhere firmly to the base layer, with no cracks, bubbles, or peeling. The brush height should be consistent, and the thickness must meet the manufacturer's specifications.

2. Apply the second coat of waterproofing. Allow sufficient drying time between the first and second coats. The second coat can only be applied once the first coat is fully dry, depending on the type of coating used. If the interval is too short, the waterproofing effectiveness will significantly decrease.

3. Install the protective layer. To prevent damage from subsequent construction, a protective layer should be applied over the waterproof coating. This layer must fully cover the waterproof surface, with no gaps or leaks. It should also be securely bonded to the base, free from cracks, bubbles, or detachment.

4. Conduct a water retention test. During the test, the water level at the highest point on the floor should be at least 2 cm. Keep the water for at least 24 hours and check for any signs of leakage. If leakage is found, the process must be repeated, as this step is critical for ensuring the waterproofing system works properly.

Key steps include: base preparation, cleaning, screed layer, joint layer, detail reinforcement, acrylic waterproof layer, water storage test, protective layer application, and a second water storage test.

1. Check the elevation of the kitchen and bathroom carefully, especially the position of the floor drain to ensure it’s correctly placed.

2. Inspect the quality of the floor drain and the walls around pipes. Ensure that all holes are properly filled and compacted. The pipe roots must be sealed during the screed work as required.

3. Shape the corners (both internal and external) into smooth circular arcs, ensuring they are even, flat, and well-finished.

4. Perform the screed work. Repair any voids, cracks, or uneven areas on the base with cement mortar. The base must be solid, smooth, clean, and free from dust, oil, wax, or other contaminants.

5. Once the leveling layer is dry, proceed with the waterproofing. Use fireproof and waterproof materials during the process. Workers should wear soft-soled shoes to avoid damaging the coating.

6. After completing the waterproof layer, protect the finished product. Avoid foot traffic. Only proceed to the next step after passing inspection and obtaining the necessary acceptance documents.

7. After the waterproofing is done, conduct a water storage test for at least 24 hours. If there is no leakage, it is considered qualified. A second water storage test should be conducted after installing the equipment to ensure long-term performance.
