Stone machinery plays a crucial role in the growth of the stone industry, and its development trends often reflect the direction of the entire sector. At every major international stone exhibition, the latest and most advanced stone machinery always draws significant attention. As the stone industry undergoes transformation, stone machinery continues to evolve, embracing technological upgrades and accelerating toward intelligent production.
**Local Enterprise Technology Upgrades**
At the 2013 Xiamen Stone Fair, local stone machinery companies made a strong showing. Companies like Xiagong, Longgong, and Jingong, known for their construction equipment, showcased their latest stone processing machines. Industry leaders such as Shengda, Fuda, VIA, Giant Wheel, and Wanlong also participated, highlighting the growing competition and innovation in the field.
With a large number of domestic and international buyers attending the exhibition, stone machinery firms displayed their most advanced equipment. For instance, XGMA introduced fully upgraded models in 2013. Their new-generation mine-type crawler hydraulic excavator featured improved performance and quality. The machine used imported turbocharged engines to ensure high power output, while Xiagong's patented "Engine Exhaust Gas Treatment Device" and "New Adjustable Damping Device" contributed to energy efficiency and reduced emissions.
The advancement in stone processing machinery is largely driven by digitalization and smart technology. Large cutting and grinding machines at major booths were mostly computer-controlled. At Platinum Machinery’s booth, an intelligent robot attracted many visitors. This robot demonstrated skills such as stone handling, sanding, and cutting with remarkable precision. According to the booth staff, the robot is fully controlled by a computer. By replacing the tool, it can perform various basic stone processing tasks, even some preliminary engraving work. In harsh working environments, finding skilled labor has become increasingly difficult. This robot can replace manual labor and help establish an automated production line for stone processing.
The staff added that with other smart equipment, stone processing companies can eventually build modern smart factories, transforming the traditional production model of the entire industry.
**Taiwanese Stone Machinery: More Sophisticated Technology**
In addition to the continuous improvements by local enterprises, Taiwanese stone machinery companies have also shown great interest in the mainland market. At the Xiamen Stone Fair, Lin Gaorong, chairman of the Taiwan Association of Stone and Mineral Products Industry, led a delegation, with many members being stone machinery firms. Huatongxing Machinery, which has been operating in Hualien for over 30 years, previously exported its products to Thailand and Japan. Last year, its machines were included in the ECFA early receipt list, allowing them to be imported tax-free.
“Although there are tens of thousands of stone factories on the mainland, there aren’t many real stone processing machines,†said Lin Gaorong. “Taiwanese companies have long produced equipment for European and American markets, so our technology is very mature.†He noted that while the level of stone machinery on the mainland still lags behind Taiwan, the cost of shipping Taiwanese machines to the mainland—17% VAT plus freight—makes them more expensive than local options. Therefore, many Taiwanese companies are now considering setting up assembly plants in China to better serve the market.
“This way, advanced technologies will be brought over, and collaboration between enterprises on both sides will strengthen, ultimately driving the overall development of the stone machinery industry,†Lin concluded.
