Special attention to the purchase of the toilet

When purchasing a toilet, it's essential to understand the drainage method and the pit distance of your bathroom. This information will help you choose a model that fits perfectly with your home’s plumbing system.

If you're confident in a particular brand, make sure to inform the dealer that your home is under a drainage system and specify the pit distance as 37 to 38 cm. Most imported brands typically have standard pit distances of 40 cm or 30.5 cm, while domestic brands offer more variety, including 35 cm. When installing, just make sure the tiles are thick enough to accommodate the size, and it should work fine.

When buying a toilet, don’t just focus on the brand, color, or design. Two key factors to pay attention to are the drainage method and the pit distance. These are crucial for ensuring the toilet matches your bathroom setup properly.

The actual pit distance should not differ by more than 1 cm from the measured value. For a floor drain system, the pit distance refers to the distance between the center of the floor drain hole and the unfinished wall. After the drainage system is installed, the ground distance should be measured—this is the distance from the center of the drain hole to the floor. Accuracy is very important here. Industry experts recommend that the measurement error should not exceed 1 cm after the wall construction is complete, otherwise the toilet may not fit properly.

If the renovation team suggests raising the floor level, creating a water guide, and then doing waterproofing, or recommends using a drain converter, be cautious. These methods are not standard installations and can affect the toilet’s suction performance, reduce the sewage discharge speed, and compromise the odor control. If the toilet and drain hole you purchased don’t match, even if it takes some effort, it’s best to ask the dealer for an exchange rather than making adjustments that could damage the system.
