In 2004, Fujian made history with the commercial operation of its first nuclear power plant—Ningde Nuclear Power Unit 1. Around the same time, Fu (likely referring to a local company or project) was also advancing in manufacturing, as an EMU train rolled off the assembly line. Over the years, a growing number of leaders from state-owned enterprises across various countries have chosen Fujian as their base of operations. This has led to a surge in large-scale, high-investment projects that are not only technologically advanced but also efficient and of high quality. These developments have significantly boosted the growth of the hardware industry surrounding Fujian.
State-owned enterprises from Chongqing have played a key role in driving this industrial expansion, helping to build a more robust and competitive environment for Fujian’s hardware sector. This marks a significant opportunity for the region, signaling a new era of growth and development. With strong support from both local and national efforts, Fujian's hardware industry is poised for a bright future.
According to recent statistics, since 2004, 92 central state-owned enterprises have signed cooperation agreements with Fujian, investing in over 400 projects. The total investment has exceeded 2 trillion yuan, with over 400 billion already completed. These projects span multiple sectors, including advanced manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, finance, and tourism. In 2011 and 2012 alone, Fujian signed agreements with 31 central SOEs. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, the central government planned to invest up to 850 billion yuan into the province.
During the 11th Five-Year Plan, the State Grid Corporation of Fujian invested over 50 billion yuan in power grid development. The number of 500 kV substations increased from 5 in 2005 to 15 by the end of 2010. The number of 220 kV substations grew from 69 to 132, and a total of 2,040 kilometers of transmission lines at 110 kV and above were put into operation, with a capacity of 11.51 million kVA. These achievements highlight the rapid progress in Fujian’s infrastructure and energy sectors, further supporting the growth of its industrial ecosystem.
