On June 22, 2011, the bustling Beijing Road in Harbin was undergoing a major transformation. The project aimed to replace the old blacktop with a more durable and visually appealing surface.
According to the on-site construction manager, the whitening-black project introduced a new process that started with shot blasting. This method effectively removed the old surface, leaving a clean and rough texture ideal for the next layers. Due to the tight schedule, the team had to complete 80,000 square meters within just 10 days. They used Qirui Tektronix's 2-20DT shot blasting equipment for corner work and the 2-4800DH driving device, which could handle up to 12,000 square meters per day.
After shot blasting, the pavement was ready for the application of the rubber asphalt stress-absorbing layer. This layer helps reduce cracks and prolongs the life of the road. Finally, the SMA surface was applied, ensuring a smooth, safe, and long-lasting finish. The project marked a significant step forward in improving urban infrastructure in Harbin.
